刘心武先生的小说很好，尤其是《钟鼓楼》，将市井百态，悲欢离合浓缩于小小一个大杂院里短短一个白天里，但空间和时间却都很开阔，毫无局促之感，真可谓缩龙成寸，精彩纷呈。可到红楼这里，却是在错误的道路上越走越远。刘先生以秦可卿作为破解红楼的突破点，甚至为此还创造了红学新分支：秦学，但却把秦可卿的身份给搞错了。
刘先生只注意到了秦可卿的低微出身和贾府这样的钟鸣鼎食之家门不当户不对。一个小小的工部营缮郎的女儿竟能成为顶级豪门贾家长房长孙之媳，更何况这个秦可卿还不是秦业的亲生女儿，而是从养生堂（可不是现在专攻中老年人的养生堂，而是收养弃婴的孤儿院）抱养的弃婴。
巨大的身份悬殊让刘心武先生困惑不已，于是乎就给秦可卿弄出了一个废太子之女的身份，试图用此来解答这个问题。但刘先生的这个解说太过于牵强，以至于到了后面根本无法自圆其说。各种论点论据也都经不起推敲，质疑之声一直不断，饱受诟病。
但是这个错的根源却不在刘先生身上，长期以来，红楼梦的作者是曹霑（号雪芹），几乎成了不用讨论的定论。刘心武在这个定论的基础上展开研究，并没有什么错。错就错在，当年年轻的胡适草率地认定作者是江宁织造曹寅的孙子曹霑就是红楼首章中提及的在悼红轩中，披阅十载，增删五次的曹雪芹，于是以后的红学家们都掉进了“曹家沟”，将好好的“红学”彻底变成了“曹学”。于是乎，曹雪芹就此定型，且不断深化神化，红楼梦也被理所当然的作为曹家金陵旧事来宣传，就连“江南织造”这样一个本没有太多存在感的官职都搞的人所共知了。
可惜《红楼梦》根本不是什么曹寅之孙曹霑写的，细品红楼，里充满了对满清的鄙视，这样的书怎可能是一个满人写的，打死都不信。悼红轩里披阅十载的曹雪芹绝对不是曹寅那个可能也叫号雪芹的孙子曹霑，而应另有其人。悼红，悼念的红是大明朱家的朱红之色，悼红轩，即悼念大明的纪念堂。怎么可能有个康熙的随身侍卫的孙子在里面待了十年，反复修改一部悼念大明的明末隐史？
红楼一书写的是红男绿女，说的却是王侯将相，看见的是风花雪月，看不见的是血雨腥风。红楼里记录这些女子，并非钗裙，本为须眉男儿，只不过将他们的事迹原委都隐藏这厚厚脂粉之下了。一人一事都不是作者随意臆造出来的，都能在明末那段凄惨的历史里找到对应的痕迹。
竟不如我半世亲睹亲闻的这几个女子，虽不敢说强似前代书中所有之人，但事迹原委，亦可以消愁破闷；也有几首歪诗熟话，可以喷饭供酒。至若离合悲欢，兴衰际遇，则又追踪蹑迹，不敢稍加穿凿，徒为供人之目而反失其真传者。
再强调一下，红楼中的人物并非是对历史人物的简单的映射，那种先设定一个原型，加以抽象后的再加工成故事的简单映射，而是加密后的写实，是对真实历史事件的另一种隐晦表述，是一部娘化了的明亡隐史。红楼内各色人物情节具是按史而编，是娘化版历史人物传记，叙事方式也类太史公，轻表象而重因果，虽是隐喻密说，但描述起历史事件来，也是条理分明，因果清晰。因此也就给红学的索隐派留下了大量推论依据，虽然红学走错了路，变成了“曹学”，但索隐派推导出来的故事发展脉络基本还都是正确的，只不过放错了历史时代，结果差之毫厘谬以千里。

彻底解密的红楼完全可以看作是一部另类史记，一部《红楼史记》，仿太史公，按人叙史，按人物分别成章，并按其在书中的地位也分为本纪、世家、列传，一些并不受瞩目的小人物，则会合并或单独出一些小传加以说明。
别的人物暂且不提，也跟刘心武先生一样，拿这个谜一样的秦可卿作为突破口，为大家拨开红楼的重重迷雾，重新还原这一段被反复加密的隐秘历史。
